Bubba - 12/3 (Monday)
December 4, 2007 by Sarah Underhill
Thanks guys for the new postings, I feel like we are talking face to face, and
for those of you staying away, I expect to see you before Christmas. I know she
will be better soon.
Chemo today for the last time went off like the others, no problem. She actually
ate a little breakfast, some soup for lunch and I will fix her something else
light for dinner. Her blood numbers are holding steady so she did not get any
blood today. She got a gallon of IV saline in order for her to be hydrated, the
weekend took its toll on her system. Tomorrow Cheryl will get platelets as the
chemo kills those off quickly. Accordingl to the staff her blood numbers may
hold up for several more days and that’s a good thing. We both thought as sick as
she has been was due to a low red count, not this time. Maybe another virus. Not
sure yet.
What we do know is the next 28 days should be a lot easier on her physically and
emotionally. As soon as her vision and strength get back up she will be posting
each day. I know you folks are getting tired of reading my writings just hang
on, better things are coming. (I did make better grades in high school English
than she did) But she is a lot smarter, look who she married. - Bubba

Thank goodness for the next 4 weeks that will allow for regeneration, renewed strength, and an improved energy level that will provide you with a jump start on the next phase of treatment.
My continued prayer is that GOD’S precious SON remains with you while you travel through the valley and we can all rejoice when you reach the mountain top with HIM by your side.
Take Care
Doug
I am so grateful that you are doing better. This being the cold and flu season, just stay close to home and away from those virus’s. I pray for you guys every day. I’m so glad that you will have a 28 day break. I know everyone wants you to be healthly for their Christmas present. This has really put life into perspective for me.
Love you both

Seems everything is looking up. That is what all those prayers will do. I am so thankful that you are home and with your family. Hey I agree with Mary Anne; you being healthy would be a wonderful Christmas present for me. Please know that I pray and think of you daily.
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed

Cheryl - By reading your blog daily, my faith has grown so much. There were times in my life that I wanted to give up, however seeing what you have been dealth with and listening to your faith and Bubba’s faith and seeing that God does answer prayer to those who don’t give in has been a blessing in my life. My faith and trust in our precious Savior has never been stronger. I can’t wait to see you and thank you.

Hello Owens Family! Let me first start by saying, Bubba, despite everything that you all are going through, I am so glad to see that you all still have your sense of humor! Laughter is one of the best medicines sometimes! Also, not wanting to sound like a broken record, but you all are an inspiration! Your faith and your love seem indestructible! I just admire the love that you all have for each other! It is so sweet & has brought tears to my eyes reading some of Bubba’s posts on here. Bubba you’re a good man & Cheryl you’re a lucky woman to have such a good man! Lastly, Cheryl, I pray that you will have some relief from your nausea & discomfort very soon & most importantly that the doctors will find you a 10 out of 10 donor match! Take care! Love you & Miss you all!
Casey
PS Sarah, thanks again for keeping everyone updated with all of the posts.
Dear Cheryl and Bubba, like many before us have written and expressed so eloquently, we have held you and your family in our prayers. We will continue to do so daily and will await updates to be posted. The many messages I have read have been words of strength and reveal the strength deep within the Owen family. You have given us all courage…thank you.
Bubba, thank you for sharing.

Hey Cheryl and Bubba, we are praying for you, and happy to hear some better days coming now. We watch the postings each day, and are blessed. Hang in there Cheryl, we love you guys.
Guys we continue to be blessed by your prayers and postings on this blog. We thank you each from the bottom of our hearts.
Today was a tough day for MS.Cheryl, this side bar concerning her colon continues to drain her of any energy or stamina she would be gaining during this time without any chemo. Last night the new medication called marinol,( most of you know what that is just think about it) starting working immeadiately to relieve the nausea. This is a last resort effort for patients like Cheryl where nothing seems to work. The nausea was gone for the night. Amazing right?
This mornig when she woke up after a good nights sleep she was as sick as she had been. The nausea was a 9 out of 10. Seems we have some tweaking to do between the ativan and the marinol. Cheryl can’t take both as they do the same thing. They both make her sleep. We will get it all figured out in due time. With God’s direction it will all play out. We pray that the doctors and nurses will continue to try new things in order to make this journey as tolerable as possible. Pastor called last night checking on Cheryl, with as much as he has going on in his life to even be thinking of Cheryl was special. Spoke with my sister and brother in law in Dallas last night, that is always a treat. What Godly people they both are. The charm bracelet is now being assembled at a jewelry store and has turned into an amazing blessing for everyone. Rita and Jim have had a ball putting this together. We should have it before Christmas. Then all of you that sent in a charm will go into each and every process Cheryl goes into, including the transplant. Pray for some strength, some stability, and a clear head for our precious little godly lady. She really needs it right now.
